Local Groups

Welcome to the Local Groups section!

If you are not already part of your local group why not contact your local contact and find out more details? You don't have to be a member of the society to join a local group.

Thanks to our local contacts we have groups meeting in many parts of U.K. but sadly in some areas we have no local contact and therefore no pportunity for people with scleroderma to meet others who understand how they feel, not just about the disease but themselves. If there's no group in your area why not start one? For that you would need to be a member so that we can put you in touch with members in your area and support you effectively.

I have been the Essex contact since late 2007 and still think it's a fabulous privilege to host the group. I have met wondeful people who have given me support, information and lots of fun and laughs. In turn I have been able to support them and think it's marvellous that from my difficult experience someone else can reap a blessing! My husband wants to meet with other care givers so they can support each other as those of us with scleroderma do. If you're a carer why not start a local group?

If you want anymore information about local groups contact your local contact and if you want any information about starting either a local group or a local carer's group you can always contact me.

Meeting in Ipswitch on 8th May.

Jacky March has had a good response to setting up a group in the 'far East' and so far has six members plus four or their supporters to join her for a cuppa and chat on Saturday, 8 May from 2.30 pm at her house near Ipswich. There is also interest from others unable to attend and from further afield, including Norwich and Cambridge, so watch this space for a group re-name after we have met. At this first meeting we will be getting to know one another, sharing the isolation which is apparent from the phone conversations, seeing how frequently we would like to meet and discussing what type of meetings we would like and where. If you would like to come along on 8 May or be kept informed of what is happening, please contact Jacky on 01473 717206 or jem.rgm@keme.co.uk for more details.
