Poor circulation and sometimes trauma to the skin may result in ulcers. These usually occur on the tips of fingers or over bony prominences like the knuckles. Even the smallest ulcer can be very painful and may interfere with hand function. The danger is that ulcers easily become infected and if this is left untreated may result in ischaemia and may become infected.
